During the holiday season, everything is a little extra indulgent, because it's time for celebrating, connecting, and enjoying traditions. Our Gingerbread Latte checks all of those boxes! And it’s nowhere near as *basic* as the drive-thru coffee shop drink.
When do I serve this Latte?
We like to serve it all winter long. Because it's all the holiday flavors in a mug!
- Catching up with out-of-towners at home and need a special occasion beverage? Here’s your answer.
- Looking for the perfect cookie pairing for the family celebration? This is the ticket.
- Not a fan of eggnog? Try this instead.
- Or, just need a caffeine boost to fuel your marathon gift shopping day? Yep, we’ve got you covered.
Of course, then there's also "Christmas in July". That's when we pine for the holiday season and whip up a batch of iced gingerbread lattes.
No matter what time of year, this spiced delicious drink will bring the cheer.
What Makes this Recipe More Healthy?
Our Gingerbread Latte is the perfect homemade holiday season treat that won’t leave you in a sugar coma. We've dropped the refined sugar and substituted date syrup. You can also use honey or maple syrup of course. Or skip the sweetener altogether. The gingerbread flavor will carry your tastebuds without the glucose spike in tow.
By now, we've all heard the health concerns surrounding dairy milk. So we're using almond milk (or an alternative plant milk of choice) instead. JOI plant milk bases are always at the ready for milk making. The almond milk base has more protein, fiber and healthy fats that the popular brands you can buy at the store.
Wait! You say you want to top with whipped cream? No problem, there are some terrific dairy-free alternatives available. Or whip up some homemade coconut whip for a special treat.
How do I Make my Gingerbread Latte?
Making this healthier, homemade "Starbucks" gingerbread latte is easy. Pull out a blender. Throw in your favorite hot coffee (drip, espresso or concentrate).
Almost there! Add hot water (microwaved or just heated up in a small saucepan over medium heat) and JOI milk concentrate of choice (almond! oat creamer! cashew! hemp! oat!). Then come the gingerbread spices: a dab of vanilla extract, some cinnamon, ginger powder (or use a small piece of fresh), allspice (or clove powder). Finally, sweetener of choice, if using.
Blend it all up for a creamy pick-me-up guaranteed to get you in the spirit.
Want to tweak it? You can even sub the coffee for rooibos or chai tea for a lower-caffeine, higher-spice version. Alternatively, double down and sub the water for more coffee—we all need it sometimes.
Addicted to iced coffee? Skip the hot version and serve it on ice instead.
And, no need to worry about this fancy drink adding to your holiday season stress. Just add all the ingredients to a convenient personal blender and you’ll have an indulgent treat ready in 30 seconds.
What to Make Next?
In search of more holiday-season goodness? Our Spiced Vanilla Matcha Latte will satisfy your need for a just-sweet-enough treat! Or whip up a batch of this Pumpkin Date Creamer.

Found the instructions!
What are the instructions? Where? When I use almond concentrate, I have to put all in the blender.
Hi! I made your gingerbread latte this morning and it was amazing! I felt like I went to a coffeehouse but I didn’t and it was also so easy to make. Please keep sharing more easy latte recipes like this. Thanks!
